SCAILE/Innovation Involved Programs at Shasta College
The SCAILE/Innovation Team has been integrally involved in multiple programs at Shasta College since 2016:
Accelerated College Education (ACE): a certificate and associate degree completion program that allows students who have competing life responsibilities (work, children, etc) to fit college into their life, rather than requiring their life to fit into college.
Bachelor’s through Online and Local Degrees (BOLD): a program to support students that wish to transfer to a university to complete a Bachelor’s degree and/or a Teaching Credential, but cannot uproot themselves and move to a different physical location.
Degrees When Due (DWD): an effort to review the academic records of students who have stopped out of the college to evaluate and communicate to them how close they are to completing their educational goals in the hope they will return to complete.
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL): credit awarded for validated college level skills and knowledge gained outside of a college classroom. Faculty evaluate student-submitted CPL petitions to determine if the student’s learning gained through a variety of experiences is equivalent to Shasta College coursework.
Competency Based Education (CBE): (IN DEVELOPMENT) the goal of competency-based education is to empower students in their learning journey by providing a personalized, flexible, adaptive, and culturally responsive curriculum with which students can engage; it allows students to demonstrate mastery of learning and the achievement of competencies at their own pace aided by customized instructional and student service support.
