Fire Fighter 1 & 2 Academy
Shasta College is delivering the Fire Fighter 1 and Fire Fighter 2 Academy as intended in the most recent update with California State Fire Training where both programs are delivered as one. Upon successful completion of the Fire Academy at Shasta College, the Cadet will receive their Fire Fighter 1 from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, and will only have to complete the experience requirement in order to receive their Fire Fighter 2 certification.

This course exceeds the minimum educational requirements established by the California State Fire Marshal's Office for state certification as a Firefighter 1 and Fire Fighter 2. This academy is an Accredited Regional Training Program approved by the California State Board of Fire Service. Final certification as a Firefighter 2 is verified by the State Fire Marshal's Office after the student completes the academy, works as a volunteer firefighter for one year or a full-time paid firefighter for six months. Students successfully completing this course will receive numerous stand alone certificates.
Based on scheduling and instructor availability issues, this course meets five days a week with occasional night and weekends. Preset/scheduled dates and times may be shifted as needed to accommodate facility usage, equipment demands, weather, skill development needs and instructor availability. When dates and times are shifted, the total amount of required class time will not differ from those hours as listed on the first class handout.
