Restart!
Sometimes a pause in your academic journey can be just what you need to refocus your energy on college. We want to see you back after your pause, and we want you to know the following things about restarting:
An academic pause for one primary semester (fall or spring):
- When you return after one semester, you will be on Academic Notice Level 2, and will need that registration hold cleared by your Counselor.
- Submit an appeal to regain your California College Promise Grant (CCPG) (not necessary for foster/former foster youth).
- Submit a Priority Registration Petition (not necessary for foster/former foster youth).
- We recommend you meet with your Counselor to update/modify your education plan.
An academic pause for two primary semesters (fall/spring or spring/fall):
- Reapply to Shasta College.
- Submit an appeal to regain your California College Promise Grant (CCPG) (not necessary for foster/former foster youth).
- Submit a Priority Registration Petition (not necessary for foster/former foster youth).
- You will return at Academic Notice Level 1.
- Because you will have been out for two semesters, you will need to meet with a Counselor to create a new education plan and do the online orientation before you can register for classes.
What happens when I Restart at Shasta College?
We want to you to utilize the Student Supports that best match your needs! The goal is to earn a 2.0 GPA and complete at least 50% of your attempted units in your Restart term, or unfortunately, you will be asked to pause enrollment again.
