Stephen Bell

Mr. Stephen Bell honorably retired from the California Highway Patrol in 2012, culminating a successful career of almost 28 years of dedicated public service to the people of California.

In his final position, he was the Chief and commander of Northern Division.  He was directly responsible and accountable for accomplishing all strategic goals as well as leading and managing all Departmental field operations for the 13 most northern counties in California.

During his career he served in many different assignments and locations, giving him an on-the-job education and healthy respect for working alongside diverse cultures and communities.  This invaluable experience helped shape his belief that all are to be included.

His interest in community service extended beyond his employment duties.  He has always been engaged with the local community, donating his time and services for many causes.  He has held positions on several Boards including Far Northern Regional Center, State Council for Developmental Disabilities and the CAHP Credit Union.

He has a demonstrated ability to lead, a willingness to follow and serve, and a deep commitment to the purpose, people and process that ensures a successful outcome.  His sincere hope is to bring his experience to the benefit of the Board, while simultaneously learning from his peers to create a unified and effective mission-driven team.
