I trust you had at least a little time to relax and unplug from all we are dealing with last week. It sure feels like we are in a marathon, and the finish line keeps getting moved before we are even close to reaching it. I encourage you all to stay the course and keep modeling safe practices to those around you.

Shasta College courses for the Spring Semester will commence on January 19, with most classes held online. Registration is currently open for new and returning students. Counseling and Enrollment Services are available to help students enroll, register for classes, make or adapt their education plans, and answer financial aid questions. There are many things to give thanks for during this coming week. Family and friends, whether they live near or far, feature prominently for many of us.
I trust you are doing well. If you are like me, the last nine months sure feels much longer than that, most days. I am grateful for the ability to work in a place of service to others, but I sure hope the vaccines stay the course of their initial success levels, become approved and widely available and help our world combat this virus.

I trust you are doing well in spite of the emergencies on top of emergencies we continue to face and overcome. This is a little longer of an update, starting with some business relating to the changing tiers we find our area in and the way in which it affects our operations, followed by some great success stories.
To provide students with better access to online classes and resources, Shasta College is now offering free Wi-Fi in the Redding campus North parking lot and the Tehama, and Trinity Campus parking lots. Students may sign-up for 1 hour periods available from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday starting October 26, 2020. Students may sign-up for more than one appointment per day.
Shasta County Public Health recently announced that the State would be moving Shasta County to Tier 1 (Purple Tier) starting Tuesday, October 20. Because of the forward thinking of Shasta College leadership in deciding to maintain most classes online for the Fall semester, this change in status will have minimal impact for currently enrolled Shasta College students.
