Shasta College COVID-19 Guidance for Students

Welcome back Shasta College Knights! We’re excited to launch the Fall 2021 semester and see more students returning to campus. As we begin more in-person interactions in the classrooms, offices, and outside of buildings there are a couple of simple guidelines to be aware of to help keep our campus community healthy and safe this coming semester.

Face Coverings

  • Any student or campus visitors regardless of vaccination status are REQUIRED to wear a face covering when indoors.  This is a slight change of our most recent policy. Due to guidance from federal, state, and local agencies we have decided to make this modification to help reduce the spread of the Delta variant.
  • Students are not required to wear face coverings outdoors.
  • Students seeking exemption from the mask requirements may contact Shasta College Health and Wellness (242-7580) for an evaluation.

Stay Home and Get Tested If You're Experiencing Symptoms

Stay home if you’re feeling sick or experiencing any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 even if you've been vaccinated. Contact Campus Safety (242-7910) or Shasta College Health and Wellness (242-7580) to make an appointment to get tested. Accommodations will be made to reduce your risk of exposure to others and still get tested on campus. Testing is available at no cost to students.

Some common symptoms of COVID-19 may include; fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

Physical Distancing

Physical distancing is no longer required indoors or outdoors. Students are encouraged to keep space between themselves and others if possible.

Testing

COVID-19 testing is available to students at the Health and Wellness Center (2000 Building) or Campus Safety (6500 Building).  If you’re experiencing symptoms or not feeling well please call Campus Safety (242-7910) or Shasta College Health and Wellness (242-7580) to make an appointment. Accommodations will be made to reduce your risk of exposure to others and still get tested on campus.

Testing is available at no cost to students.

Vaccination Information

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) affirm that all COVID-19 vaccines currently available in California have been shown to be safe and effective at preventing severe illness from COVID-19. Californians ages 12+ are now eligible for vaccination. To get vaccinated call (833) 422-4255 or visit myturn.ca.gov. Want to learn more? Go to:

We will continue to monitor federal, state, and local guidelines, adjust our policies based on those sources, and communicate out to the campus community as soon as we have new directions.

The last 16 months have seen many changes for all of us. Whatever your situation, however you’ve come to this point in your educational journey—whether your continuing or returning to us, we’re thankful you’ve chosen this moment to be here and we look forward to a great semester/year together. On behalf of everyone at Shasta College—welcome back!
